University of Louisville Superfund Research Center is part of the P42 project funded by National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The research focuses on the cardiometabolic effects of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). The research overarchs the health effects of VOCs as well as methods to detect and remove VOCs.

Fortner group will take a part in the development of novel materials for VOC treatment in both the gas and liquid phases. This project will be in collaboration with Wang group led by associate professor Hailiang Wang from the department of Chemistry.
