Stella Ban

Ph.D. Student
Research area:
PFAS treatment
Biography:

Stella is a first-year graduate student in Dr. Fortner’s lab, starting in 2024. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining Yale, Stella researched subsurface engineered wetland systems, focusing on their sorption rates for heavy metals and PFAS. Her current research interests lie in studying fundamental mechanisms, particularly the interactions between natural materials and PFAS. Outside of research, Stella is a local hang gliding pilot and enjoys going on camping trips with friends.
